Privacy Policy

Draft notice: This document is a starting draft. It has not been reviewed by counsel. Review and adapt before publishing — laws vary by jurisdiction, and the disclosures below depend on your final SDK configuration.
This Privacy Policy explains how RidgeGlow Software LLC (doing business as RidgeGlow Games) ("we", "us") handles information in connection with The Farm Grows On ("the Game") on iOS, Android, web, and Windows / macOS / Linux (Steam) platforms.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the Game and the limited categories described below. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not target the Game to children under 13.
1.1 Information you provide
- Purchases. When you buy something inside the Game, our payment processor (Apple, Google Play, Steam, or RevenueCat) records the purchase. We receive a transaction confirmation and a non-identifying purchaser identifier so we can deliver and restore your purchase. We do not receive your card number.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. When you open the Game, we (and our analytics provider, Google Analytics for Firebase) collect technical information about your device (operating system, device class, language, country, app version) and gameplay events (e.g. the character editor was opened) so we can fix bugs and improve the experience. We use this for product analytics only.
- Advertising identifiers and ad interactions. When you have consented (where required), our advertising partners (Google AdMob on mobile, Google AdSense on web) may read advertising identifiers (Apple's IDFA, Android's Advertising ID), your IP address, and information about ads you see and interact with. Where you have not consented, our partners serve only non-personalized ads based on contextual signals.
- Crash and diagnostic data. Firebase collects anonymous crash and performance diagnostics so we can improve stability.
1.3 Steam-specific information (Windows / macOS / Linux build only)
On the Steam build, we receive your Steam ID and game-ownership status from Valve via the Steamworks SDK so the game can run, save your progress, and unlock achievements. We do not display ads or use Google Analytics in the Steam build.
2. How we use the information
We use the information described above to:
- Run the Game and deliver content you've purchased.
- Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve gameplay.
- Show advertisements (on mobile and web) and measure their performance.
- Comply with applicable law and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Game:
| Provider | Purpose | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Analytics) | Product analytics, crash reporting | iOS, Android, Web |
| Google (AdMob) | Mobile advertising | iOS, Android |

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information under the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — operating the Game and processing purchases.
- Consent — analytics and personalized advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time via Privacy choices in the Game's menu (see Section 7).
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, and anonymous diagnostics, balanced against your rights.
5. International transfers
Our service providers operate globally, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards put in place by each provider.
6. Data retention
We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Purchase records: retained per platform requirements (typically 7 years for tax and audit).
- Analytics events: retained per Google's default retention (currently up to 14 months).
- Advertising identifiers: not retained by us; held by ad partners per their policies.
7. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Withdraw or change consent for analytics and personalized ads at any time via Privacy choices in the in-game escape menu (or from device settings on iOS via Settings → Privacy → Tracking).
- Request access, correction, deletion, or portability of any information we hold about you by emailing [email protected].
- Object to or restrict processing based on legitimate interests.
If you are in California, you also have the right under the CCPA / CPRA to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of your information. We do not sell information for monetary value; sharing for personalized advertising can be opted out via Privacy choices. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in the EEA / UK, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children's privacy
The Game is rated Everyone / 4+ but is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in the Game.
